THE SEVENTIES
In 1975, Gianni Fornaresio moved to Venice to continue his studies, where he met and got to know a group of young artists. Twenty young people, full of hope for the future, who during the summer months they used to sell their art works to tourists and in winter had to figure out how to "survive".
After a while, Gianni Fornaresio joined the "Associated Artists" group with the role of assistant framer and - a short time later - became responsible for running external sales.
In 1977 he returned to Turin and continued his work with the "Associated Artists" organization and was involved in the distribution of "commercial" art works to furniture stores and frame-makers throughout northern Italy.
THE EIGHTIES
PRINTS AND ANCIENT BOOKS
In the early eighties, Gianni Fornaresio came into contact with a "scholar" and enthusiast of old prints, who introduces him to this fascinating world. He travelled to France and England and visited various exhibitions to collect various materials.
While "dealing" with antique prints and books, he began to perceive their intrinsic essence and gained considerable iconographic and technical experience and skills, but continued to be involved with contemporary art.
He also became an agent for several graphic publishers and one of the most important is the Marconi Studio in Milan.
THE FIRST ART GALLERY
In the same years, Gianni Fornaresio realized his dream of having his own art gallery in the city center, where he produced modern graphics, antique prints and frames.
THE FIRST EDITIONS
Fornaresio achieved his first edition with Francesco Casorati, a good part of which was sold to the San Paolo Bank in Turin, which used to give as a prize old graphics and prints to its most important clients.
During that period, Fornaresio produced numerous runs of the most popular artists in the Turin area and among them was Ugo Nespolo, with whom he became a very good friend and introduced him to the national market. Meanwhile, during the inaugural exhibition at the Rivoli Museum, he exhibited - among other artists - also Emilio Vedova. An official from the San Paolo Bank, who was impressed and fascinated by the work of art of this important artist, asked Fornaresio if he could have a few more of his works. Vedova, who was normally rather reluctant to market his works, finally agreed.
In 1986 Enrico Baj was produced. In 1987, while participating at the Frankfurt Book Fair, Gianni Fornaresio met Luigi Rimoldi the publisher and dealer of Luigi Veronesi, who asked Fornaresio if he would like to produce a few graphics with the artist. Following Rinoldi's premature death, Paolo Minoli took over the Veronesi consulting business. Minoli, who was an artist and professor of chromatography at Brera Academy, was also the advisor of Bruno Munari and this encounter then led to the production of various works by Veronesi and Munari.
APPLIED ART
In 1987 Fornaresio Studio moves from the small gallery in the centre to the Docks Dora, which is a large post-industrial structure. Besides the exhibition area, there is also a laboratory where the Nespolo, Del Pezzo and Veronesi "author watches" are produced.
THE NINETIES
In 1991 Fornaresio Studio, together with various sponsors, creates a folder consisting of five works by Alighiero Boetti.
In 1992 he starts his collaboration with Daniele Fissore and produces numerous graphic works which are greatly appreciated by the public. In the same period, he produces Mondino, Haka, Barovero, Pedretti and Selden.
2000 - 2010
The headquarters of the studio are transferred from the Docks Dora to the current large space located in the center of the city.
In 2001 Gianni Fornaresio starts his collaboration with Piero Guccione.
In 2005 the Fornaresio Studio acquires various portfolios by Egon von Schiele, a magnificent posthumous work carried out by the Austrian publisher Sedler for a major exhibition organized and set up in Japan in 1990.
New editions by Piero Guccione and Janusz Haka
RECENT YEARS
Gianni Fornaresio begins his collaboration with Professor Ugo Nespolo, who gives him the exclusive rights to produce his graphic works, including also their distribution and papers.
In October 2012, Daniele Fissore grants him the exclusive rights to distribute his golf, sea and polo works.
ARCHIVIO FORNARESIO
1985-2012
